Foro Penal verifies 78 political prisoner releases; the government announced 131
The government of acting president Delcy Rodríguez announced 131 releases of political prisoners, and by Sunday Foro Penal had confirmed 78, according to Infobae and CNN en Español. Its vice president, Gonzalo Himiob, said the number could rise. Dinorah Figuera, who leads the opposition delegation in the dialogue, called for clarity between official figures and verified cases, Infobae reported.
According to El Español, minister Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela said the courts agreed to them at the Public Ministry's request. Marco Rubio called them a crucial step and put releases since January 3 at 1,046; María Corina Machado demanded that all be freed, civilians and military, CNN en Español reported.
