State Department legal adviser Reed Rubinstein asked the Justice Department to file an immunity request for Delcy Rodríguez in federal court in Miami, EFE reported. According to EFE, Washington argues that Rodríguez, recognized as interim president since March 5, 2026, enjoys immunity while in office, and the Venezuelan embassy requested that certification.

The Southern District of New York federal court confirmed a status hearing at noon on July 22 in the case against Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, postponed from June 30, VPItv reported. According to the channel, it is not the start of the trial; both have pleaded not guilty and the defense argues head-of-state immunity.

Mario Silva cited a National Assembly note saying the legislature will work with former members of the 2015-2020 Assembly starting August 1, after a meeting between Jorge Rodríguez and Dinorah Figuera. Silva called it shameful and said Venezuela has become a country under tutelage.
