Jacqueline Faría to head the Gran Misión Venezuela Renace

Acting president Delcy Rodríguez on July 5 named Jacqueline Faría, until now transport minister, as president of the Gran Misión Venezuela Renace, which will coordinate the recovery of housing and infrastructure, El Nacional reported. According to the paper, more than 17,300 people lost their homes, 856 buildings were damaged and 190 collapsed.

Rodríguez had already announced a fund with the same name, financed with money frozen at the IMF and other bodies, VPItv reported. On the opposition side, David Placeres and Daniel Lara Farías questioned the appointment; Lara Farías called it “reconstruction in the wrong hands.”

«That fund will be called Venezuela Renace. The fund will be for the reconstruction and recovery of the areas hit by the double earthquake.»— Delcy Rodríguez (quoted by VPItv), July 5, 2026 · watch
