US Treasury sanctions Bluewave Properties, pressing Harry Sargeant to leave Venezuela

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) froze assets of Bluewave Properties, the offshore firm of oilman Harry Sargeant III, and granted him a license to divest from his Venezuelan interests, Bloomberg reported, as cited by Business Standard. Sargeant is tied to North American Blue Energy Partners, the country's second-largest private oil producer.

Commentator David Placeres said Donald Trump's administration is pressing Sargeant to leave Venezuela and placed him among "Donald Trump's own friends." According to Business Standard, Sargeant served as an informal channel between Washington and Caracas.

«So that he leaves Venezuela, that is, so that he packs his little bags and leaves the companies»— David Placeres, August 9, 2026 · watch
