Former Carora mayor Javier Oropeza detained and released hours later, the same day a new round of talks begins

Former Carora mayor (Torres municipality, Lara state) Javier Oropeza was detained, according to Patricia Poleo, after making remarks on a radio program; Dinorah Figuera's organization demanded his release, El Pitazo reported.

The detention came 48 hours after he returned to the country under the amnesty law, according to David Placeres, the same day new members joined the U.S.-supervised negotiating table, El Pitazo reported.
